No analytics, no third-party services, a single cookie
This website does not include any analytics tools and does not load any fonts, scripts, videos or images from third-party servers. Everything you see here comes from our own server. So nothing about you is reported to third parties.
There is a single cookie: if you choose a different
language via the language selector, xxo_lang remembers this choice for one year. It
contains only the language code (such as en), nothing else — no
identifier with which a visit could be recognised. It is only set
when you actually change the language; anyone who changes nothing
receives no cookie.
That is why there is no cookie notice and no consent request: a cookie that provides exactly the service you have just requested does not require consent under § 25 para. 2 no. 2 TDDDG. You can delete it at any time in your browser — the language will then again follow the setting of your device.
Server logs
When the page is accessed, the server processes technically necessary data: IP address, time, address accessed, amount of data transferred, browser identifier. They serve secure operation and the defence against attacks.
Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO (GDPR) (legitimate interest in trouble-free operation). The logs are deleted after no more than 14 days.
Contacting us
If you send us an e-mail, we process your details in order to reply. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b or lit. f DSGVO (GDPR). We delete the message as soon as the matter has been concluded and no retention obligations prevent this.
3. The software Ovemio
What the app does NOT do
The app contains no content — no channels, no films, no playlists. The access data of your sources do not leave your device. Which channels you see and what you watch remains on your device — unless you use synchronisation between your devices. In that case, profiles, history and preferences are stored encrypted on our server, under an identifier that does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person. The key for this is derived from your licence key. We do not analyse this data.
Identifier instead of name
The app does not create a user account. From the access data of your playlist, it forms a hash value (SHA-256) and uses this as an identifier. The access data cannot be calculated back from it; no name, postal address or e-mail address is collected for this.
Which data for what purpose
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Licence & activation | Identifier, licence key, device identifier and type, device name, app release, time of last use | Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO (GDPR) (contract) |
| Synchronisation between devices | Profiles, history, preferences — as a data block under your identifier | Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO (GDPR) |
| Support chat | Identifier, your display name (by default the user name of your access, as soon as you open support), content of the messages — end-to-end encrypted, only you and your support contact can read them | Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO (GDPR) |
| Error reports | Device model, operating system, app release, technical log of the app, your description | Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO (GDPR) or lit. a in the case of express sending |
Error reports
Reports are either triggered by you or sent automatically after a crash. They contain technical information about the device and the log of the app — no access data and no information about what you have watched. We delete them as soon as they have been evaluated, at the latest after twelve months.
Automatic transmission can be switched off in the settings.
Your provider's playlists
If you enter a playlist, the app connects directly to the server of this provider. This connection does not run via us; we learn neither the address nor the access data nor the content retrieved. The respective provider is responsible for the data processing there.
Other services
- Film data (TMDB): For posters, plot and cast, the app queries the service "The Movie Database". In doing so, the title searched for is transmitted.
- Trailers (YouTube): If you tap Trailer for a film or a series, the app embeds the video from YouTube. From this moment on, there is a connection to Google; your IP address is transmitted, and Google may set cookies. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The connection is established only by your tap — anyone who does not start a trailer does not establish one either. If the rights holder does not permit embedding, the app instead offers to open the video in YouTube; you start that yourself as well.
- Radio: If you search for radio stations, the app queries the open directory "Radio Browser" — only upon your input, not of its own accord.
- Updates: At intervals, the app retrieves a file on our server to find out whether a new release is available. This generates the usual server log data.
4. Disclosure to third parties
Data is only disclosed insofar as this is necessary for the performance of the contract (for example to the payment service provider when purchasing a licence) or we are legally obliged to do so. Data is not sold.
If a partner distributes the app under its own name, this partner sees the support messages and licences of its own customers — and only these. The areas are technically separated.
5. Storage period
We store personal data only for as long as is necessary for the respective purpose or as required by statutory retention periods (in particular under commercial and tax law).
6. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and a right to object (Art. 21 DSGVO (GDPR)). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future.
To do so, please contact the address given above. To assign your request, the identifier of your installation is helpful; you can find it in the app under Settings.
Irrespective of this, you have a right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — the authority responsible for us is the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
7. Security
Transmission is encrypted throughout (TLS/HTTPS). Administrative access is protected by two-factor authentication; access is logged.
8. Changes
We adapt this policy when the processing changes. The version published here at the relevant time applies.
